The Fall River Traffic Board held its meeting on August 19, 2026, chaired by Stephanie McArthur, Director of Traffic and Parking. The board began by approving the minutes from the July 15th meeting. They then approved a curb cut application for Jessica and Mark Forslund at 498 Reading Street to add a 12-foot driveway on Montgomery Street. A request from Peter Amaral of Shoreline Solutions for a loading zone at 4510th Street was also approved for the hours of 6 AM to 7 PM, seven days a week.
The board approved a request from the Veterans Association of Bristol County for prohibited parking along their new property on King Street to ensure safe access for trucks. The restriction will be in effect Monday through Friday, from 7 AM to 6 PM. A significant discussion was held regarding City Ordinance 70-319, concerning the all-night parking of commercial vehicles. The board voted to recommend an amendment to the ordinance, changing the restriction to apply to vehicles over 30 feet in length or over 5 tons, an increase from the current 2.5-ton limit. Two other traffic safety and parking requests were tabled due to the applicants’ absence.
The latter half of the meeting was dedicated to handicap parking spot applications. The board approved new spots at 124 Eagle Street, 1427 North Main Street, 6 Kishan Street, 322 Brownell Street, 949 Locust Street, 298 Mulberry Street, 12 June Street, and 293 Mulberry Street. An application for 54 Kellogg Street was tabled. The board also approved a request from the traffic department to rescind nine outdated handicap spots across the city. The meeting was then adjourned.
