The Fall River School Committee will hold a regular meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, at 5 p.m.
The session will take place in the Durfee High School Auditorium, located at 460 Elsbree St. in Fall River.
The meeting is scheduled to conclude by 9 p.m., though organizers note the end time is subject to change depending on the agenda.
On the agenda
- 1.1 Roll Call — The School Committee will record the attendance of its members to start the meeting.
- 1.2 Salute to the Flag — The meeting will begin with the Pledge of Allegiance.
- 1.3 Open Meeting Law — An announcement advising attendees that the public meeting may be audio or video recorded and transmitted by anyone present.
- 2. Citizens’ Input — An opportunity for members of the public to provide up to three minutes of comment on school-related topics.
- 3. Subcommittee Updates — Kevin Aguiar will present updates from the Facilities and Operations Subcommittee.
- 4. Superintendent’s Report — The Superintendent will present updates on administrative institutes, school openings, strategic planning, committee professional development, enrollment, hiring, district facility updates, and recognitions.
- 5. Approval of Minutes — The Committee will vote on approving the minutes from previous School Committee and subcommittee meetings held between March and June 2026.
- 6.1 Travel Requests — The Committee will consider a travel request for Dr. Janet Schweizer, Curtis Cobb, and Joseph Michael of Evolve Academy to attend a leadership cohort in Montgomery, Alabama.
- 7.1 Donations — The School Committee will acknowledge donations of athletic funds for helmets, computer equipment, and cafeteria/classroom furniture.
- 8.1 Discussion: Glen Koocher, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees’ — The Committee will hear from and hold a discussion with the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees.
- 8.2 Discussion and Vote to Approve: The School Resource Officer Memorandum of Understanding — The Committee will discuss and vote on approving a Memorandum of Understanding for School Resource Officers.
- 8.3 Discussion and Vote to Approve: The Service Agreement for the Greene Elementary School Energy — The Committee will discuss and vote on a service agreement related to energy at Greene Elementary School.
- 8.4 Discussion and Vote to Approve: Selection and Appointment of the following Nurses-District wide — The Committee will discuss and vote on appointing district-wide nurses Emmy Brett, Tiffany Conchinha, and Erica Figuerado.
- 8.5 Discussion and Vote to Approve: The Deputy Superintendent Job Description — The Committee will discuss and vote on approving the job description for the Deputy Superintendent of Schools.
- 8.6 Discussion and Vote to Approve: The Following Job Descriptions — The Committee will discuss and vote on approving job descriptions for a Supervisor in the Fall River Public Schools and an Executive Confidential Assistant.
- 8.7 Discussion and Vote to approve: The Job Coach job description — The Committee will discuss and vote on approving the job description for a Job Coach at Robert L. Medeiros 290 Rock Street.
- 8.8 Discussion and Vote to Approve: The usage of Durfee High School’s Ray Street parking lot — The Committee will discuss and vote on allowing the Durfee High School parking lot to be used for a Trunk or Treat event on October 23, 2026.
- 8.9 Discussion and Review: The School Committee Meeting Calendar SY2026-2027 — The Committee will discuss and review the meeting calendar for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
- 8.10 Discussion and Vote to Approve: The Fourth Quarter Transfers — The Committee will discuss and vote on approving financial transfers for the fourth quarter.
- 8.11 Discussion and Vote to Approve: The Fourth Quarter Revolving Fund Transfer — The Committee will discuss and vote on approving revolving fund transfers for the fourth quarter.
- 8.12 Discussion and Vote to Approve: The Fourth Quarter Year to Date Budget Report — The Committee will discuss and vote on approving the fourth quarter year-to-date budget report.
- 8.13 Discussion: The Fall River Public Schools Targeted District Review Report (November 2024) — The Committee will discuss the targeted district review report issued by the state’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education from November 2024.

- 9. Approval of Grants — The Committee will review and vote on approving federal and miscellaneous grants for a continuation program and an opioid grant.
- 10.1 Contracts-Continuation/Renewals — The Committee will review and vote on approving continued or renewed contracts for educational, miscellaneous, transportation, and special education services.
- 10.2 Approval of Contracts-New — The Committee will review and vote on approving new contracts for items such as ID printers, visitor management, carpentry, and outdoor play area work.
- 11. For Your Information — The Committee will receive informational updates regarding staff retirements, resignations, appointments, rehires, transfers, and death notices.
- 12.1 New Business — The Committee will discuss any new items of business that could not be anticipated 48 hours prior to the meeting.
- 13. Request for Executive Session — The Committee will vote to enter a private session to discuss personnel discipline or litigation strategies, and to review executive session minutes.
- 13.1 Reconvene from Executive Session — The Committee will return to the public meeting after completing its private session discussions.
